OPTIFADE™ is the incredible new technology that Beretta offers to ungulate hunting enthusiasts. It is the first camoufl age system developed around animal - and not human - vision and created following a research project promoted by W.L. Gore&Associates that teamed up the world’s most authoritative experts in the field of animal vision, fabrics technology, mimicry and hunting. The revolutionary idea is to break up the symmetry of the human body that ungulates recognise and associate with predators with macro patterns and blend it with the rest of environment with micro patterns. 
Therefore this is no longer a simple imitation of the surrounding environment, but an innovative camoufl age that blends, rather than hiding: preys can see hunters, but they are no longer able to identify them as predators and therefore as an imminent danger.
This allows you to get up incredibly close to the animal.
The pattern no longer consists of leaves and shrubs (effective at a very close range, but simple blocs of colour easily identifi able at a distance), but of shapes that disorientate the animal’s vision at whatever distance, both in ambush and stalking hunts.
A cutting-edge technology that Beretta has been able to develop in three different versions: DWS, to deal with colder climates, WINDSTOPPER, to shield yourself during days of strong wind and 500 ELP, to face warmer climates and stormy days.

HOW DO YOU KNOW HOW DEER SEE?
Ungulates have an extremely wide field of view, up to 280° to quickly identify preys, predators and potential threats. However, this is to the detriment of the quality of vision: they recognise shapes and spots, but they rely on other senses to better identify them. Moreover, whilst human beings with their trichromatic vision can see the whole colour scale, ungulates have a dichromatic vision: they cannot see red and see the world in yellow, blue and grey. This is why the coloured geometric shapes developed by OPTIFADE™ disorient animals and their eyes. |
