Hi everybody! My name is Laetisha Scanlan and I shoot in trap since 2005. I was born on 13th April 1990 in Melbourne and actually I’m training in Frankston Australia Gun Club with the Beretta DT11. I’m a sales representative and basically I’m a very relaxed person, so I love spending time with my family.
Laetisha started shooting in 2005, when she was 14 years old. She first competed in an international event in 2007, in the Nicosia World Championship.
She won her first gold medal in an international event in 2011, during the Oceania Shooting Championship.
In 2013 she become Australian National Champion, she took the silver medal in the Oceania Shooting Championship and, last but not least, she won the Gold in the World Cup of Al Ain.
At the 2014 World Cup of Tucson she grab another Gold medal.
Which is your favorite gun?
My favourite gun is my gun, the Beretta DT11 that I use actually.
Why do you prefer to use that gun in particular?
I love using my DT11 because it is a great gun that has minimal recoil and it is the gun that I have won two World Cups with.
Which is your favorite shooter?
My favourite shooter is Michael Diamond because he has achieved so much in the sport and is from my country. He is also a great man to learn from.
Who inspires you to practice shooting?
I really do not have someone who inspires me. I just try to learn from my errors and I observe the other shooters in order to learn something more. I try to get the best from everything and everyone.
Which is your most beautiful anecdote connected to the shooting sport?
From the shooting ranges I have learned that is so important to remember that the people you pass on your way to the top, you also pass on your way down, so you have to be humble.
Which is your favorite shooting range?
My favourite shooting range is definitely Al Ain, UAE, because it is very green and the targets are great to see. I also won a Gold there, so I have memorable memories from there.
How many years do you have when you first took up a gun?
I started shooting approximately when I first took up a gun and I remember that I was 9 years old. From this time I never put down the gun and this is not my intention for the following years.
Which are your plans and goals for the future?
My hope and goal for the future is to take the quota for the Olympic Games and shoot at my best during the competition in order to win the Gold medal. This is my dream since I started shooting.
Which is your advice for someone who use you as an inspiration?
My advice to everyone who wants to entry in the sports world, not only shooting sport, is to always train hard and believe in themselves.
