Travis Mears started shooting early, and for the best reasons there are: “I started shooting at the age of 9 with my dad and his group of friends. It was something that I could do to fuel my passion for being outdoors as well as spending time with my Dad.” Since that time, Travis, a native Texan, has continued to make shooting a family affair. His favorite shoot of the year is the Texas State because he gets to see so many familiar faces and old friends from shoots over the years.
Travis currently participates in Sporting Clays & Exhibition Shooting, using a variety of Beretta shotguns. He currently likes the Beretta A400 Xcel Sporting and the Beretta A400 Xtreme. We hope that he will take Beretta along when he achieves his greatest goal of winning an NSCA National Championship. Travis won the Gold Medal at the ESPN Great Outdoor Games at the tender age of 16, so experience will only make him better.
Travis also enjoys Hunting and Archery shooting, in addition to Shotgun shooting. Travis ascribes his success to the way he was raised, “I think the constant positive support and attention to detail from my dad when I was younger is the most responsible for my shooting.” It’s a great lesson to pass on.
