CHANNEL MARKETING MANAGER - INDEPENDENT RETAIL
DESCRIPTION: Key liaison between sales, marketing, product development and operations that will provide sales insights to new products, upcoming events and forecasts. The role balances sales support, partner management, and sales training with the focus on growing the independent retail sales channels. Experience in either sales or channel marketing is essential.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Liaison role to report between Sales Team and Product Marketing with a focus on the retail environment. Scope of focus is to annually drive sales within independent retail channel to increase sales and capitalize on opportunities with each retailer.
Develop and translate marketing or product strategy to retail execution. Provide accurate and timely communication and support to both the internal cross functional team and sales team with regard to our customer requirements. Drive promotional activity. Assist in development of promotional strategy for specific channel. Communicate results and impact of commercial activity and key drivers. Market analysis of competitors and industry trends. Assist in mapping out channel strategy for different product categories. Focus on driving sales growth while maintaining profitability of business. Assist in product positioning within each category, including working with product manager to develop pricing strategy and feature set for Hero products. Responsible for merchandising strategy, focusing on non-firearms. Responsible for tracking inventory levels within each channel partner. Support the evaluation of the project requests to determine feasibility and timing. Assist and drive special order process to include quarterly specials, or annual special orders. Assist in developing fact based selling materials for the field sales organization:
• Customer go to market strategy
• Assist with volume estimates
• Product contribution
Understand business analytics to recommend and develop Account presentations/strategies. Ability to work independently in a fast paced, high pressure environment. Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: BA/BS Degree in Marketing required. 2-3 years of experience in sales account management within the durable goods or consumer products industry or 2-3 years or experience in Customer or Trade Marketing role with a consumer products company. 1-2 years experience with business analytics/category management. Strong communication skills (verbal and written). Detail oriented and highly organized. Ability to understand POS and shipment data for analysis. Ability to implement/ensure use of sales information technology to make fact-based decisions. Strong PC Skills in Microsoft Powerpoint, Excel and Word.
