Beretta U.S.A. is currently looking for Supply Quality Engineer to work out of our manufacturing facility in Gallatin, TN.

JOB OBJECTIVE/ SUMMARY

The Supplier Quality Engineer II focuses on manufacturing supplier development, working with suppliers to continuously improve performance, implement process controls and develop quality assurance plans within the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and First Article Inspection (FAI) logic.  Requires knowledge of the manufacturing process, applications and process development in order to actively work with suppliers in improving quality of components and services.  Perform quality audits on suppliers to assure the vendor is capable to produce products and services with meet Beretta U.S.A.’s requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Prioritize workload outside of the day to day issues.
• Work with suppliers and project management teams to define and manage component process development and continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of manufacturing process to constructively critique supplier processes. 
• Demonstrate involvement in the application of poka yoke in a technical supporting role.
• Interpret technical drawings, including geometric & dimensional tolerancing versus proposed manufacturing process.
• Apply measurement system analysis tools and utilize outcome for process development and improvement. (Process Control relating to product conformance)
• Working knowledge of product customer audit process and ability to apply knowledge in a preventative role on new product development.
• Utilizes the capacity planning / verification process as an operational tool requiring minimal clarification of application / interpretation of results.
• Demonstrates real examples of application of supplier resourcing process.
• Analyze and resolve problems through root cause analysis tools (I.e. 8D).
• Understands preventive tools and their applications while recognizing how and when these concepts should be applied.
• Demonstrates the personal application of prevention action concepts and techniques (error proofing, poka yoke, robust design, etc.).
• Able to lead problem solving teams and serve as consultant.
• Develops and present reports to properly communicate with Quality and Purchasing departments.
• Maintains Supplier Quality Assurance Database and Supplier Quality Scorecard Communications with all BUSA suppliers.
• Works very closely with the sourcing team to localize BUSA suppliers in the surrounding states of TN area
• Assists with other projects as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work is performed in a group office environment. Utilization of P.C. and mainframe computer system. Flexibility to travel frequently required.

QUALIFICATIONS/ABILITIES:

• Demonstrate knowledge/successful application of problem solving / six sigma tools (i.e. DoE, Control Charts, 8d).
• Has followed a Green Belt 6-Sigma training program, completed with successful project delivery.
• Report writing skills.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

Bachelor degree in Engineering (Mechanical Industrial Manufacturing) or related field. Minimum of 3 years SQE experience preferred in a related industry. Experience with metal machining, stamping and casting processes. Experience in automotive field. Experience with following QMS (Quality Management Systems – I.e. ISO, TS, etc.) Experience with development of vendors production process startup through PPAP system on new components or technologies.

JOB OBJECTIVE/ SUMMARY

Develop Standard Work to process and gather relevant information in support of statistical planning for process improvements. Use structured root cause analysis in the effort to prevent or mitigate non-conformances and future risk. Interact with internal and external suppliers and customers.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Responsible for Quality System Maintenance.
• Root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action for process related concerns.
• Assist Systems/Safety/Consumer Quality Manager in establishing, implementing and maintaining the quality management system.
• Responsible for continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5S, Kaizen lean methods, etc.
• Assist Director of Quality in development of training to build quality awareness.
• Interface with Engineering and Operations to ensure transfer to Production of new products are in accordance with approved data through the DRS process.
• Support the Quality Technicians/Inspectors to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system.
• Conduct audits, including closing out audit findings, creating audits finding reports and determine proper corrective and preventive actions (CARS and PARS).
• Analyze failure, corrective and preventive action (through structured root cause analysis process) to respond to customer complaints.
• Assist Systems/Safety/Consumer Quality Manager to create and maintain company quality documentation, such as quality manuals, quality procedures, etc.
• Assist Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) in continuous improvement QA receiving inspection process and procedures.
• Ensure timely resolution of manufacturing or assembly failure, corrective actions and preventive actions.
• Preparation of QA reports to BUSA standards.
• Devises acceptance control plans and sampling procedures.  Designs and develops forms and Standard Work for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data. (Including, but not limited to: inspection, testing, and evaluation)
• Establishes program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities (MSA, GR&R).
• Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
• Program CMM’s (PC DMIS) in accordance with product function and manufacturing process.
• Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality activities.
• Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
• Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility.
• Prepares reports to communicate involvement and results of quality activities.
• Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management.
• Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality codes and standards.
• Gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
• Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations.
• Writes clearly and informatively; Edits work for spelling and grammar;
• Presents numerical data effectively.
• Able to read and interpret written information.
• Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Frequent exposure to work near moving mechanical parts. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Safety equipment as required.

QUALIFICATIONS/ABILITIES:

• Able to manage time effectively through prioritization in an ever changing environment
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Knowledge of spreadsheet software (Minitab, Excel) and manufacturing software a plus.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Concentrations considered: Statistics, Mechanical Engineering, other Engineering). Experience with metal machining and assembly processes. Strong GD&T Skills. Recommended: Certified in SPC / Cpk, 8D (or similar root cause analysis), FMEA, FMA, CQE, Six Sigma, Lean Methodologies

Beretta U.S.A. is currently looking for a Lab Technician to work out of our Gallatin, TN facility.

JOB OBJECTIVE/ SUMMARY

The objective of the Lab Technician is to assist the Heat Treat/Surface Finishing Department in performing the processes according to the procedures and the Military Specifications. The tasks involve controls on process parameters, analysis of the solution of the tanks, testing of processed parts and metallurgical evaluation of samples from heat treated production parts. The Lab Technician will also perform metallurgical inspection of incoming parts. All these activities will be performed in accordance with defined company policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Chemical analysis of all prescribed surface finish operations to determine constituent and chemical concentrations. Maintenance of constituent chemical concentrations to ensure optimal operating conditions. Performance of atmosphere analysis to ensure proper heat treat operations parameters. Preparation of incoming and heat-treated materials of metallurgical analysis including micro-hardness HV testing. Performance of finished component quality assurance procedures. Documentation of all activities for official historical reference purposes. Operation of equipment involved in performing these tasks. Requisition Orders write up for consumable material needed while performing these tasks.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Assigned to Metallurgical Laboratory, where proper chemical handling practices must be adhered to.
• Job activity will require also handling hazardous materials in a production environment.
• Ability to maneuver in tight confines, catwalks, and stairways.
• Must handle materials in excess of 50 lb.
• Personal safety protective equipment as required.

QUALIFICATIONS/ABILITIES:

• Read policies and procedures relevant to Heat Treat and Surface Finish process control parameters.
• Read policies and procedures relevant to finished components requirement.
• Read policies for proper operation of surface finishing processes.
• Proper chemical handling procedures including personal protective equipment requirements.
• Operation of necessary testing equipment in performance of assigned tasks.
• Structure activities to meet daily, weekly, and monthly timetables for analysis completion.
• Perform arithmetic and algebraic calculations at high school equivalence level.
• Read technical documents and procedures.
• Write clearly and legibly.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

Bachelor Degree in Chemistry or Metallurgical Engineering or Equivalency.

Previous experience in a chemistry or biology laboratory or operations experience in metal finishing environment with operations comparable to Beretta USA.
