Ennio Falco

Beretta Skeet Shooter

Good day everyone, my name is Ennio Falco and I am a skeet shooter from Capua since 1983. I was born on 3 January 1968 and I am a Forestry Agent. I train in Capua with a Beretta DT11  and my way of life is that all important things in life can only be obtained with lots of work and sacrifice.

Ennio made his debut in the world of shooting at the age of 15, taking part in his first international competition in 1983 at the junior European Championship held in Bucarest, where he came fourth.
In 1987, at the junior European Championship in Lahti, he won his first medal, a silver. In 1988, at the World Cup in Osijek, he won his first of many senior gold medals even though he was still a junior.
In 1996 he won an extraordinary gold medal at the Atlanta Olympics, where with a total of 149 targets hit, he set the European world record, the Olympic record and the final Olympic record.
At the World Cups in Osiijek (1988), Bologna (1990), Nicosia (1994), Seoul (1995), Lonato (1997), Brunei(1998), Suhl(2002), Americana(2004), Rome (2005) and Kerville (2006), he set the European world record and the European final world record. Between 2001 and 2006 he won the senior individual European title 5 times!
He has won the final of the World Cup 5 times: Munich (1994), Montecatini Terme (1997), Doha (2001), Rome (2003) and Izmir (2010)!
He has been awarded the most medals in the history of ISSF shooting, including an Olympic gold, a number of European Championship titles, 5 second places and 3 third places in the World Championships, 5 first places, 3 second places and 2 third places in the World Cup finals, 10 first places, 7 second places and 6 third places in the World Cup.

What Does he bring on shooting Range?

The Shotgun

The DT11 is Beretta’s top-of-the-line competition shotgun, used by the world’s absolute best clay shooters. It is built around a vault-tough cross-bolt action, a whole 3mm wider than its predecessor’s (the DT10) and therefore stronger and even more durable. DT11 Trident Beretta. Ennio Falco shots with Dt11 Beretta.

What's your favourite shotgun?
My favourite is the Beretta DT11, which I am currently using.

Why do you prefer this specific model?
I prefer this particular model because since it comes with Steelium pro barrels, the ballistic performance of the rosate is better. The recoil of the shotguns allows for better stability when striking two targets simultaneously which is now part of Skeet shooting after the rule change.

Who is your favourite shooter?
In my opinion, one of the best shooters currently and therefore also my favourite is Vincent Hancock, the young American skeet shooter who at just 25 years of age has already won two Olympic golds. Apart from being a lovely person, he is also a very focused athlete who has always reached the goals he has set for himself.

Who inspired you to shoot?
The person who introduced me to the world of shooting was my father, who would always go hunting and therefore transmitted that passion for firearms to me.

What's your best shooting story?
When I started shooting I was 13 years old. We lived on a shooting range and I never told my father. He was a hunter and so he had 2000 50 gram 32 hunting cartridges, in lead ranging from 11 to 9 buckshots. In the beginning, I started using shotguns lent to me by certain enthusiasts, but obviously I couldn't ask my father for the cartridges. I was in charge of managing the skeet ranges, and so I started using any left over hunting cartridges that my father would hide in the pull stations. I started using the 11 lead cartridges, and then moved onto the 10 and then the 9. In the end, only those with 9 buckshots remained, which I used up, but at that point I was found out because the cartridges used for wild boar would "whistle". My father, who was at the range, heard the hiss of the buckshots and knew.

Which is your favourite shooting range?
My favourite shooting range is one where I took part and won the World Cup stage in 1998. It is in Brunei.

How old were you when you held a shotgun for the first time?
The first time I held a shotgun I was 14 years old and I shot with a Beretta a300 belonging to my father. That shotgun has a special place in my heart and I still own it today.

What are your goals and plans for the future?
Like any self-respecting shooter, after 31 years of shooting, I can only expect to remain in this fantastic world of shooting, even if I am not sure what role I will take on. The only thing I am sure of is that, whether as a coach or shooter, I want to pass on all that I have learnt about shooting and being an athlete.

What advice can you give others who are inspired by you?
To those who would like to follow in my footsteps, I would advise them to only emulate my sportsmanship, in the full sense of the word.
