The 'B-WOOD' project has developed an innovative solution for recognising the grade of wood from an image analysis of the artefact, obtained through the use of machine learning and deep learning techniques. The system now offers a valid support to the operator's decision, to improve the objectivity and replicability of the judgement. In addition, the system makes it possible to build a database that can be used for upstream relationship management, in collaboration with suppliers, and downstream certification, for the benefit of end customers. The project was developed in collaboration with OROBIX.

The 'EVENT BASED PREDICTION SYSTEM' project aims to maximise machine availability through more effective scheduling of maintenance operations made possible by forecasting (predictive maintenance), to be realised through data analysis supported by machine learning. Artificial Intelligence-based solutions represent a significant growth opportunity, supporting process experts with predictions that enable better, and more timely, decisions. To date, thanks to the Event Based Prediction System initiative, 156 connected machines have been reached, with a reduction of machine downtime by more than 50% (2022 vs. 2020) and a consequent 10% increase in production capacity.
