Beretta 1301 Tactical Marine

New 1301 Tactical Marine features the addition of several integral improvements in response to feedback from the marketplace. We have redesigned the bolt release lever to allow for a more solid function and eliminating the chance of a double feed. We have also added an aluminum picatinny rail on the receiver in order to support heavier optics. Lastly, we have threaded the barrel for Optima Bore HP Chokes, which will allow for you to use any of our 12ga OBHP chokes to get the most performance out of your 1301 Tactical. The Marine edition features a high visibility, corrosion resistant finish and Aqua-Tech coating ideal for maritime environments.

Excellent but with one small problem

My 1301 Tactical Marine is excellent except that the AquaTec coating is pretty weak. Unacceptably so, in my opinion, given the high standard of quality set by the rest the craftsmanship in the gun, and by the price tag. After a couple dry fire sessions using snap caps to get used to the excellent oversized bolt release, about 30% of the coating just outside of the ejection port is gone. About a 1/8” wide strip of patchiness. It’s so disappointing given that the gun is excellent in every other way. I’m not upset because Cerakote is relatively cheap, but at the same time, Cerakote is relatively cheap. Why isn’t a great coating like that standard, Beretta? Reader, if you’re on the fence, get yourself a 1301, but maybe not the marine model if you plan to actually use it at all and also care about coatings.

Most fun I’ve ever had with a scatter-gun

As stated above, “ Most fun I’ve ever had with a scatter-gun.” Light recoiling, fast handling, accurate, fast, fits like a glove. I would recommend this shotty to anyone who asks. I have LEO experience and used a shotgun for work quite often. This one outshines those by miles. This gun eats up anything I feed it. I shoot a lot of slugs, 00 buck, bird shot, hot loads and reduced recoil…. Not one hitch. I shoot this gun so fast and with such gusto, buddies bust my chops as to using this much ammo in these crazy times…. Sorry, can’t help it. I also have a Mossberg 940 JM pro and have as much or more fun with my 1301. Only change I’d like is the extended mag tube and maybe chokes included in the box. Not a gripe, just a wish list…
