New Production are Defective
Recently, July 2019, I purchased two Beretta 87 Cheetah, 8 round magazines from different merchants - both were defective, both would NOT operate the last shot hold open (slide stop). All my old (3) magazines work properly and operate this feature. A comparison of old to new magazines shows - obviously weak springs in the new magazines. I contacted BerettaUSA and they suggested these were just slight differences between production lots. The slide stop is of paramount importance in 22lr handguns. Without the slide being held open on the last shot an additional trigger pull will result in the firing pin striking the steel barrel and not the relatively soft rim of a 22lr. Repeated hard strikes will result in broken firing pins. These new magazines are - DEFECTIVE. Beretta USA must correct these defects or assume the financial consequences.
