SO6 EELL Sidelock: Over-Under Artistry

The SO6 EELL is a shotgun for connoisseurs--as well as for the most dedicated upland hunter and clay shooter. This true sidelock has a low-profile receiver that is is graceful and slender, with a vault-like cross-bolt locking system designed for generations of use. The action also carries the centuries-old artistic pride of Northern Italian master engravers: an uninterrupted living tradition with its roots in the Renaissance and beyond. But in the SO6 EELL, the art does not stop at what is visible. Every inch of over-under has been optimized for looks, performance and durability, the three pillars that make a legacy-quality gun and that coexist in the SO6 EELL to the highest degree.

Engraved Low-Profile Sidelock Action

Beretta remains unique among big manufacturers in its capability to conserve and continue the time-honored skills of master artisans. In the SO6 EELL, these skills are immediately tangible in the quality of the sidelock action. To the ouside, this is embellished with over one hundred hours of the finest hand engraving and it is personally signed by the master. A variety of sophisticated scenes and styles can be executed to suit personal tastes and requirements, from floral motifs to traditional game scenes, exotic subjects, fine English scrolls, mythological scenes, portraits, gold-inlays or whatever suits the owner’s preferences. To the inside, the sidelock action offers a simple, safe and reliable mechanism legendary for its crisp trigger pull and fast lock times (selective or non-selective trigger available).

When shooting, the action’s low profile maximizes the balance and pointability of the shotgun by placing as little vertical space as possible between the plane of the dominant eye and that of the supporting hand. Side locks can be supplied in a removable version with thumbscrews, facilitating quick, easy inspection of the finely crafted firing mechanism.

A Durable, Dependable Heirloom

The performance and reliability of this sidelock shotgun is the result of the quality of materials used, individual craftsmanship and the precision of the manufacturing processses. Barrels are constructed of cold-hammer forged Boehler Antinit steel, ensuring perfect alignment of the tubes, exceptional strength and long-lasting corrosion resistance. They are carefully tested and checked for ballistic performance and consistency of shot pattern. The ventilated rib is file-cut. To minimize locking stress while shooting, the cross-bolt locking system operates on Monobloc lugs positioned at the height of the upper tube axis. Locking shoulders are replaceable.

Premium Stock, Custom Dimensions

For its stock and fore-end, the SO6 EELL uses only the finest walnut briarwood, selected for its color tones and sturdiness. The client determines the final dimensions, and the wood-to-metal fit is completed with the care of a work of art. The stock may be ordered with a pistol grip or in a straight English fashion; both buttstock and fore-end are then shaped, finished with hand-cut deep diamond checkering and finally polished with oil or wax. The handsome leather carrying case with accessories is standard.

Not a great paddle

Hello, if you are looking for a combo paddle/shotgun for duck hunting in the swamps think again. I purchased this shotgun because I thought I could save weight by having a 2 in 1 combo. The paddle end of this shotgun is horrible and the barrels are super slick. I lost this gun on my fist trip into my duck blind. I do not recommend.

It's a bad paddle

I also thought that I could save on some weight by picking this up to use as a paddle for getting to and from my blind. Let me tell ya, this this would be a better anchor. It does not tread water as well as dedicated paddles, it's awkward to hold, and the wood got pretty banged up after our first foray. Lewis and Clark probably wouldn't be reaching for this if they were going to explore the swamps of N. America. For the cost of this combo gun, I would have expected Beretta to do better.
